As climate change increasingly impacts our atmosphere, the need to tackle environmental pollution becomes more urgent. Molecor is fully committed to reducing pollution and making a positive impact on air quality.

Invest in #CleanAirNow

September emphasizes the importance of protecting the atmosphere, with two key dates: International Clean Air Day for a Blue Sky on September 7th and International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16th. Both days serve as global reminders of the need to raise awareness and take action to reduce air pollution and mitigate the effects of global warming.

This year’s Invest in #CleanAirNow campaign underscores the urgent need to promote solutions that combat air pollution. By calling for greater investment from governments and businesses, it highlights air quality as a global issue that requires coordinated action. To protect human health and ecosystems, we need an international response that prioritizes clean, healthy air.

Molecor's Investment in a Cleaner Future

The consequences of inaction are severe: biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse, worsening environmental pollution, and emerging diseases. Molecor recognizes this urgency and is committed to minimizing its environmental impact. The milestones achieved in 2023, along with ongoing initiatives, demonstrate our dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

A core element of our strategy is the Sustainability Plan, with the ambitious goal of becoming a Net Zero company by 2040—ten years ahead of the European Green Deal’s 2050 target for climate neutrality. Our Climate Strategy is driving this transformation, and a key component is our Decarbonisation Plan.
Molecor is using the GHG Protocol standard (Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard) to calculate its carbon footprint, covering both direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) emissions for 2022 and 2023. We are now working on assessing Scope 3 emissions, which include those along our value chain. This detailed analysis enables us to develop a targeted action plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.

Leading in Energy Efficiency

The high level of electrification of our production processes places us at the forefront of the transition to a low-carbon economy compared to many other sectors, however, in order to achieve our goal it’s necessary to continue working to improve the energy efficiency of our processes. Obtaining the certification of the Energy Management System in accordance with the ISO 50001 standard at the Loeches production plant, and the current implementation at the Alovera, Alcázar de San Juan and Antequera centres, represents a new milestone on our path to climate neutrality, as it allows us to identify the areas of highest energy consumption and establish a reduction plan through efficiency measures that will allow us to optimise our processes and reduce our emissions into the atmosphere and therefore, our carbon footprint, thereby increasing the company's contribution to mitigating climate change.

Commitment to Renewable Energy

A key aspect of our sustainability efforts is the transition to renewable energy. Molecor began this journey by installing photovoltaic panels at the Loeches plant and now sources electricity backed by renewable energy guarantees. We are actively exploring new opportunities to expand the use of green energy across all production centers. By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we are moving towards a more sustainable production model, reducing CO2 emissions, and shrinking our carbon footprint. These efforts reinforce our commitment to protecting the atmosphere and curbing global warming.

In sum, Molecor is dedicated to making a significant, lasting contribution to the fight against climate change by investing in cleaner air and a sustainable future.
