As part of Molecor's commitment to sustainability and transparency in the manufacture of its products, the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) has been published for several of its ranges, including TOM® pipes and ecoFITTOM® fittings made of Oriented PVC

These declarations, prepared in accordance with the international standard EN ISO 14025, provide detailed and verifiable information on the environmental performance of products throughout their life cycle based on the Product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) according to ISO 14040 and ISO 14044.

As Product Category Rules (PCR), EN 15804:2012 + A2:2019 ‘Sustainability in construction. Environmental product declarations. Basic product category rules for construction products’. These PCRs define among others: the environmental parameters to be declared, the life cycle stages to be considered, the processes to be included in each of the stages, the rules for the calculation of the life cycle inventory (LCI), the impact assessment, and the conditions for comparability between EPDs.

The LCA assessment was carried out using SimaPro software, taking into account the emission factors of the Ecoinvent database in its most updated version available at the time of the assessment.

The independent entity in charge of carrying out the verification was AENOR, guaranteeing the accuracy and reliability of the data provided by the company to assess the environmental performance of the TOM® and ecoFITTOM® ranges. Likewise, as administrator, it has registered the EPDs within the Global EPD programme, which is recognised within the ECO Platform.

By obtaining these ecolabels, Molecor aims to promote the creation of more sustainable hydraulic infrastructures, reducing the environmental impact in the water conveyance and construction industries.

Molecor's Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), also known as type III ecolabels, represent an important step in the company's transparency and rigour when communicating the environmental impact of its plastic pipes and fittings and endorse the veracity of the information that the company publishes about its products in relation to various environmental parameters.
