Air Kelantan

On last Sunday, 8 September 2024, Molecor SEA hosted a technical product talk for Air Kelantan (AKSB) in the Grand Riverview Hotel, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Molecor SEA shared the cutting-edge technology to produce more reliable and efficient pipelines, emphasizing the seamless field application and installation.

As Air Kelantan (AKSB) continues to upgrade its water supply infrastructure, TOM® PVC-O pipes offer numerous advantages, addressing key challenges such as aging infrastructure, non-revenue water (NRW), and the need for more durable and sustainable materials.

One of the key issues is Non-Revenue Water (NRW) due to leaks and pipeline failures. PVC-O pipes are designed to significantly reduce leakage rates because of their enhanced strength, flexibility, and joint integrity. By integrating TOM® PVC-O pipes into their water distribution systems, AKSB can achieve measurable reductions in NRW, resulting in a higer water conservation and increased revenue.

Key Benefits of TOM® PVC-O Pipes

1. Superior Strength and Durability

  • PVC-O pipes can handle higher internal pressure, reducing the risk of burst pipes and service interruptions.
  • Impact Resistance: TOM® pipes are extremely tough, making them less prone to damage during transportation, installation, and operation—essential for minimizing downtime in supply chain.

2. Lightweight and Easy Installation

Compared to traditional materials like ductile iron or concrete, TOM® PVC-O pipes are much lighter. This translates to easier handling, faster installation, and reduced labor costs.

  • Ease of Transport: Due to their lightweight nature, fewer resources are required for transportation, which is particularly beneficial in remote areas of Kelantan.
  • Reduced Installation Time: Lightweight pipes also reduce installation time, allowing a faster completion of projects with less disruption to the community.

3. Enhanced Hydraulic Performance

TOM® PVC-O pipes offer exceptional hydraulic efficiency. Their smooth inner surface minimizes friction, allowing water to flow more freely and reducing the energy costs associated with pumping.

  • Lower Energy Costs: By improving water flow efficiency, PVC-O pipes help reduce the energy required to maintain consistent water pressure, leading to long-term operational savings for AKSB.
  • Reduced Pressure Loss: The reduced friction also minimizes pressure loss across the network, ensuring more consistent water delivery to customers, even in distant areas.

4. Long Lifespan and Sustainability

The extended lifespan of TOM® PVC-O pipes, exceeding 100 years, makes them an environmentally friendly choice. Their high resistance to corrosion and chemical degradation ensures long-term service with minimal maintenance, offering a cost-effective and sustainable solution.

  • Low Maintenance Costs: TOM® pipes are highly resistant to corrosion, scaling, and chemical reactions, which means AKSB will face fewer maintenance issues over time.
  • Sustainability: The long lifecycle and recyclability of PVC-O make it an eco-friendlier material compared to traditional alternatives, aligning with AKSB’s sustainability goals.

Molecor SEA hopes the knowledge and technology sharing session is beneficial for all. Together, we are paving the way for a future where access to clean and reliable water is guaranteed for all.
